Last week, Richard Balcombe enjoyed a variety of programme conducting. On Saturday, July 19th, he conducted The Hallé at Bridgewater Hall in the first performance of GRB Concerts’ new programme ‘Up Up and Away…The Sounds of the 60’s’, with colleague Graham Bickley and their guests, Mary Carewe, Alison Jiear and Abbie Osmon.
On Tuesday, he conducted The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in a programme of George Gershwin and Cole Porter for the outdoor music festival at Canada Square Park in London, once again with Graham Bickley, and Sarah Eyden.
And finally, in Glasgow, on Friday, Richard conducted the BBC Scottish Symphony for a special BBC Radio 2 Friday Night Is Music Night performance as part of the Commonwealth Games Celebrations.
