Back to Sage Gateshead

photoOn Sunday GRB Concerts return to Sage Gateshead for our fourth concert with the Royal Northern Sinfonia. Having already performed our Bacharach, 60’s and Swing programmes, we return with our tribute to British musical theatre successes – Made In Britain…The Best of The British Musicals. From Gilbert & Sullivan to Andrew Lloyd Webber, Noel Coward to Tim Minchin, we honour the composers and writers who have provided West End theatre with musicals full of drama, comedy, romance, charm and spectacle.

Of course, it can only ever be a snapshot of the shows that have been and gone, and some that still remain, but we can only choose so many for the time available and, as with all our programmes, hope that should there be the demand, we can return one day with a sequel!

Sage Gateshead is a wonderful concert hall, overlooking a most dramatic cityscape. The staff and technical crew are both very welcome and supportive and it has been a joy to take a quartet of our programmes up there. I hope there are many more visits in the years to come.

In the meantime this Sunday, Ricardo Afonso, Sophie-Louise Dan, Abbie Osmon, guest conductor David Firman and myself will be celebrating the best musicals, and all of them…Made in Britain.
